WHAT A YEAR IT’S BEEN...
I'm grateful for a lot of what 2023 has given me (and honestly, there's been my fair share of stuff thrown in there as well!), but the great moments wouldn't have been possible without your support. Over the past year, I have been on quite a journey filled with adventures, challenges, and exciting developments.
I am grateful for the travel opportunities I had in 2023, all in the pursuit of learning the intricacies of new destinations I can recommend to you, my valuable clients. I visited Dublin for a second time and spent the entire time in the city. I learned about many great pubs and restaurants I had not experienced during my previous trip.
DARKEY KELLEY
Darkey Kelly was super fun and super crowded. There was great music and conversation. I love how gracious Dubliners were when five of us ladies needed a place to sit. One of the best-known pubs in Dublin for traditional Irish music. All of our musicians are from the local area, and they represent a tradition that has been passed on from generation to generation. The pub is in one of the oldest parts of Dublin city, and one of the most enduring legends surrounding Dublin has to be that of the woman – Darkey Kelly.
This is from the pub’s website: “For generations, Darkey Kelly was known in Dublin’s folk memory as the woman who was burned at the stake for witchcraft, but new evidence uncovered suggests that although she was innocent of witchcraft, she still had a dark side to her character. The discovery of bodies under the floorboards of the brothel she ran in 1761 suggests she may have been Ireland’s first serial killer!
Fishamble Street is one of the oldest streets in the city. Handel’s Messiah was first performed here in 1742, and every year on the 13th of April, the Messiah is performed free of charge to a public audience.”
TAHITI
I also had the enviable opportunity to sail around some of the French Polynesian Islands, often called Tahiti. However, Tahiti is just one of the 130 islands scattered across the Pacific in one of the archipelagos of French Polynesia.
There are five Archipelagos: the Society Islands, Tuamotu Archipelago, Gambier Islands, Marquesa Islands, and Tubuai Islands. Tahiti is the largest island in the Society Islands. While sailing with Paul Gauguin, we visited Bora Bora, Moorea, Huahine, and Taha’a. Every island was beautiful and unique, with its own vibe.
